Wat (wie) is hyperthermia - definitie

ELEVATED BODY TEMPERATURE DUE TO FAILED THERMOREGULATION THAT OCCURS WHEN A BODY PRODUCES OR ABSORBS MORE HEAT THAN IT DISSIPATES
Heat Delirium; Thermoplagia; Heat stress; Heat syndrome; Heat-related deaths; Dog heat stroke; Hyperthermy; Thermic fever; Hyperthermic; Hyper thermia; Excess body heat; Nanohyperthermia; 🥵

hyperthermia
[?h??p?'??:m??]
¦ noun Medicine the condition of having a body temperature greatly above normal.
Derivatives
hyperthermic adjective
Origin
C19: from hyper- + Gk therme 'heat'.
Malignant hyperthermia
  • This is a mixed modality medical simulation of the treatment of malignant hyperthermia by anesthesia residents. The residents are managing care, mixing dantrolene and utilizing a cognitive aid at the bedside.
GENETIC DISEASE THAT IS CHARACTERIZED BY A DRASTIC AND UNCONTROLLED INCREASE IN SKELETAL MUSCLE OXIDATIVE METABOLISM, WHICH OVERWHELMS THE BODY'S CAPACITY TO SUPPLY OXYGEN, REMOVE CARBON DIOXIDE, AND REGULATE BODY TEMPERATURE
Malignant hyperpyrexia; King-Denborough syndrome; King syndrome; Malignant hyperthermia susceptibility type 1; Malignant hyperthermia susceptibility type 2; Malignant hyperthermia susceptibility type 3; Malignant hyperthermia susceptibility type 4; Malignant hyperthermia susceptibility type 5; Malignant hyperthermia susceptibility type 6; Malign hyperthermia; King–Denborough syndrome
Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is a type of severe reaction that occurs in response to particular medications used during general anesthesia, among those who are susceptible. Symptoms include muscle rigidity, high fever, and a fast heart rate.
Drug-induced hyperthermia
SYMPTOM
Iatrogenic fever; Drug induced fever; Drug fever; Drug-induced fevers; Drug-induced fever
Drug-induced fever is a symptom of an adverse drug reaction wherein the administration of drugs intended to help a patient causes a hypermetabolic state resulting in fever. The drug may interfere with heat dissipation peripherally, increase the rate of metabolism, evoke a cellular or humoral immune response, mimic endogenous pyrogen, or damage tissues.

Wikipedia

Hyperthermia

Hyperthermia, also known simply as overheating, is a condition in which an individual's body temperature is elevated beyond normal due to failed thermoregulation. The person's body produces or absorbs more heat than it dissipates. When extreme temperature elevation occurs, it becomes a medical emergency requiring immediate treatment to prevent disability or death. Almost half a million deaths are recorded every year from hyperthermia.

The most common causes include heat stroke and adverse reactions to drugs. Heat stroke is an acute temperature elevation caused by exposure to excessive heat, or combination of heat and humidity, that overwhelms the heat-regulating mechanisms of the body. The latter is a relatively rare side effect of many drugs, particularly those that affect the central nervous system. Malignant hyperthermia is a rare complication of some types of general anesthesia. Hyperthermia can also be caused by a traumatic brain injury.

Hyperthermia differs from fever in that the body's temperature set point remains unchanged. The opposite is hypothermia, which occurs when the temperature drops below that required to maintain normal metabolism. The term is from Greek ὑπέρ, hyper, meaning "above", and θέρμος, thermos, meaning "heat".
